We combine two different approaches to solving problems - basic and applied research. Basic medical research focuses on understanding the mechanism of a particular life function, without concentrating on the diseases or disturbances that may affect it. Applied research, on the other hand, concentrates on unlocking the secrets of a particular disease or class of diseases. Both approaches are useful and necessary, but the most efficient progress is made when they are combined, when scientists who work on understanding life functions have the opportunity to interact with physicians and scientists seeking cures for diseases. Our department provides an environment in which these fruitful exchanges can occur. Select an area of interest to explore using the "Research" menu at the top.
